Programs and Ministry
Music
The 9:00 am service is a festive choral
Eucharist, with music. Holy Innocents also has a tradition
of Choral Evensong, and services are held periodically -
watch for the announcements!
Ministry of Healing
The church's Ministry of
Healing is offered at the time of Communion. A minister
licensed by the diocese administers the anointing of oil or
laying-on-of-hands.
Bible Round Table Discussion
At 8:00 am each
Sunday, a group meets in the parish library to informally
discuss the Bible readings appointed for that day.
Social Activities
Friendly weekly coffee hours are
held in the parish hall after the Sunday service. Various
members help out providing coffee and refreshments. All
visiting worshipers are invited to come and have coffee.
Men who worship at Holy Innocents and their friends gather
weekly to enjoy breakfast and conversation at the "Men's
Breakfast".
Each year we have a parish picnic in September at a local
park. Everyone brings something to share and entertainment
is provided.
The Annual Parish Meeting is held in January each year in
the parish hall. Before the meeting a pot luck lunch is
held for all who attend. During the meeting, we discuss the
previous year and present the budget and plans for the New
Year.
Other social activities include:
- Halloween Party for the Community
- Pot lucks meals and teas for various organizations
within the church
- Special coffee hours for celebrating anniversaries
and birthdays
- Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner before Lent
- Sell pretzels at the Corte Madera Oktoberfest
- Participate in the Corte Madera / Larkspur Fourth of
July parade.
Community Outreach and Volunteerism
There are
several areas of community outreach and volunteerism
throughout the parish.
Holy Innocents hosts several groups that meet in the Parish
Hall. These groups include Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the
Talako Lodge Order of the Arrow.
Holy Innocents provides baskets to receive donations of
non-perishable food donations to distribute to the Marin
Food Bank. We also distribute food every Thursday evening
from 5 to 7 pm.
Holy Innocents collects items for families that visit the
Adopt-a-Family organization in San Rafael.
The Treasure Mart
The Treasure Mart is a used
clothing and thrift shop, located adjacent to the church.
Our church and community members donate all the clothes,
goods and books sold in the store. Volunteers from the
church and the community work in the shop.
The Altar Guild
Two of the primary functions of the
Altar Guild are to set up the church before each service
and to provide flowers weekly. On the fourth Saturday of
each month, the guild conducts a meeting with a light
breakfast, after which it polishes brass and does general
cleanup of the church.
The Vestry
The Vestry consists of nine members who
meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Three new members are
elected to the Vestry at each annual meeting held in
January. The Vestry has the normal responsibilities of
being in charge of the buildings, personal items of the
parish, and the budget.
